The Haas Mill, or ’The Hare’, is a n 18th century corn mill located on Dorpsstraat in the town of Benthuizen. The mill was built in 1772 by William Overgaauw. The mill has had several owners. In 1938, it was owned by a small cooperative group ran by Mr. A. A Bakker. The cooperative closed down in the 1950s because the mill was in a poor condition, and they could not afford to repair it. In 1986, the De Haas Mill Foundation was founded to restore and maintain the mill. The Haas Mill is open to the public every Saturday.
