The Great Mill

The Great Mill was built in 1887 to replace an older mill that had been destroyed by a fire a few years earlier. The mill is very large, with the sails having a flight of 22.54 metres, and is an imposing sight against the backdrop of the town of Broeksterwoude. The Great Mill was bought by the Fryske Mill Foundation in 1977, and was restored in 1994. The current miller is Mr Rolf Dijkema.
