The Geestmolen was built in 1565 to serve the 170 hectare Geestmolenpolder. The mill was in active use until the 1960s, when a housing development was built nearby, and blocked the wind, making the mill inefficient. The mill’s duties were taken over by an electric pump in 1963. The Geestmolen is still in working order, and can occasionally be seen in operation. Tours of the mill are available by appointment.
