The Freedom Corn Mill was built sometime in the 17th century, to replace an older mill which had belonged to the nearby abbey. The exact year of construction is not known, as the first record of the mills existence notes that it was purchased by a private miller called Leerdamse Moot Fansiscus. In 1968 the mill was restored, and given the name ’Freedom’. The mill is currently owned by Erven G. of Beekhuizen.
