The Axel Stadsmolen was built in 1750, and originally belonged to the town of Vlissingen, It was built as a stone mill, and has two torque grindstones on the ground floor. The mill is on the National Monument List, and in 1997 the Axel Mill Foundation began a large restoration project, which involved repairing the hull, the fuselage, the tail, and much of the inner workings of the mill. The Axel Stadsmolen is open to the public on Saturdays.
