The Arkduif mill is a 17th century mill located on the western side of the village of Bodegraven. The mill was built in 1697, and was in use as a commercial corn mill until 1946. The name ’Arkduif’ is a relatively recent, one that was chosen as a result of a contest in 1956. It means ’Bringer of peace and happiness’, and is a reference to the biblical story of Noah and his Ark. The Arkduif mill is currently undergoing some restoration work.
