The Amsterdam Dungeon is part of a chain of attractions around Europe, each branch showing the gruesome history of the city it is based in. The Amsterdam dungeon uses live actors and carefully reconstructed scenes to depict the darker side of history. Visitors can volunteer to be a victim of a torturer the Spanish Inquisition, watch a sentencing at the Council of Blood, or experience a maze of mirrors representing the streets of old Amsterdam, with robbers lurking in the shadows to catch unwary travellers.
