The ’1200 Roe’ is a working polder mill located on Haarlemmerweg on the outskirts of the city of Amsterdam. The mill was built in 1632 to assist with the drainage of the Osdorperbinnenpolder on the Rhineland. The name of the mill comes from the distance from the mill to the outskirts of the city, which was ’1200 Rods’, or 4.5 KM. The 1200 Roe is now owned by the Municipality of Amsterdam, and is now used as a backup mill for the Slotermeer polder.
