The Stadhuis, or Town Hall in Bergen actually consists of three houses spread across the Grote Markt. It is one of the more attractive pieces of architecture in Bergen. The oldest of the three houses which make up the town hall is an Alderman’s house that dates back to the late 1300s. The other buildings are a Merchant’s house of 1480, and a building referred to as ’De olifant’ which was constructed in 1611. The buildings have all been carefully restored in recent years.
