The house where Rembrandt van Rijn lived from 1639 to 1658 is now a museum. The house was constructed in 1606, and remodelled in 1627 by Jacob van Campen, who is better known as the architect of Amsterdam Town Hall. The museum houses 250 of the 300 etchings Rembrandt created, and also displays several of his sketches, along with paintings by Rembrant’s apprentices and his tutor Pieter Lastman. Etching demonstrations are held throughout the week in Rembrant’s former workshop.
