The Prinsenhof (Prince’s Court) dates back to the late 1400s and was originally a convent. William I of Orange took up residence here in 1572, and was assassinated in 1584. You can still see the bullet holes left by the assassin’s bullets in the stairwell today. The museum has a collection of tapestries, silverware, pottery and paintings from the time of the Spanish occupation. Another part of the building houses the Nusantara Ethnographical Museum – a collection of ethnographical objects from Indonesia.
