The Old Church dates back to 1050, but the tower was not constructed until around 1350. The tower is 75 metres high, and tilts quite sharply, being about 6 feet out of plumb. There are tombstones in the floor inside the church. Around 400 people are buried within the church, including such famous figures as the painter Johannes Vermeer, the physicist Anton van Leeuwenhoek, and the naval hero Maarten Tromp. Services are held in the church every Sunday.
