The Dutch Kachel Museum in Alkmaar is housed in the former home of the Burgemeester Adriaen Sevenhuysen Symonsz, built in 1716. The Museum gives visitors a look at the development of the stove in style and design from 1875 to the present day. The museum consists of 8 rooms, holding more than 75 stoves, hearths and cookers, ranging from the simplest designs of the fifties and sixties to the most ornately decorated multi-burners. The museum also examines the different fuels used over the years.
