Development of the De Weerribben National Park started in 1986, and was completed in 1992. The park spans an area of 3,500 hectares, and has a focus on recreation, nature management, and development. The area consists mostly of marsh land, and offers visitors lots of opportunities to explore the waterways on boat tours, as well as through cycle routes within the park. There are lots of activities and tours running from the park’s visitors’ centre.
