The Gemeentemuseum Het Sterkenhuis in Bergen is a 17th century manor house located not farm from the village square. The museum is quite varied, with a number of period rooms and some displays devoted to the work of Dutch contemporary artists. There is also and an exhibition which is devoted to local history, and includes a section on an almost forgotten episode of the Napoleonic War, where a combined force of almost 30,000 English and Russian troops were defeated by a Franco-Dutch force in 1799.
