The Stedelijk Museum, or, Municipal Museum is a large museum located in the Cultural Centre in Alkmaar. It is spread across three floors, and covers the history of the town in great detail. The first two floors are devoted to the Golden Age of the seventeenth century, while the other floor is divided into several sections that cover specific aspects of the town, such as trade, or warfare. There are a number of paintings and archaeological finds displayed in the museum, and it makes for an interesting visit, although most of the displays are labelled in Dutch only.
