The Mellemolen was built in 1849. It was originally called the Polsslootmolen Akkrum, and was re-named in 2004, when the mill was dismantled and moved to its current location. The mill is now owned by the Lege Midden Mills Foundation, who were responsible for the preservation of five of the six mills in the town of Akkrum. The Mellemolen was recently added to the list of national monuments. The mill is not currently open to the public.
