The Inner Court and Hall of the Knights, or "Binnenhof and Ridderzal" in The Hague are the official offices of the Dutch Parliament and the Prime Minister. The first fortress was raised on this site by William II, the then Count of Holland. Since then, the fortresses have been rebuilt and redesigned several times. The Ridderzaal was originally a banqueting hall for Count William’s son, Floris V, and dates back to the thirteenth century. The building is now used for state occasions. The offices are not usually open to the public, although there are guided tours leaving from the tourist’s information centre which will allow you to see some of the buildings.
