The House With Heads, or Huis met Hoofden, is a well known example of Dutch Neoclassical Architecture. The grand building is a 1622 mansion, believed to have been designed by Pieter de Keyser, son of the famous architect Hendrik de Keyeser. The entrance is adorned by six busts, representing the Greek deities Apollo, Ceres, Mars, Minerva, Bacchus and Diana. The house now serves as headquarters to the Monumentenzorg, custodians to many of Amsterdam’s public monuments.
