The Hollandia mill was built in the mid 17th century to serve the Hollandsch-Ankeveensche polder, a 382 hectare area of land. The efficiency of the mill was greatly reduced by the end of the 17th century, as increasing vegetation in the surrounding area reduced its wind profile. The Hollandia Mill was replaced by an electric pumping station in 1932, and after the Second World War the mill was converted to a cafe-restaurant, and is still used as a restaurant today.
