The Great Saint Lawrence Church in Alkmaar was built between 1470 and 1520, in a Brabant Gothic style. The church has a long, interesting history, which shows in the richly decorated wooden vault, depicting the Final Judgement, and paintings by Cornelis Buys Sr. above the choir area. Count Floris V. is burried here. The church also hosts the Van Hagerbeer-Schnitger, or Grand Organ, which has the largest casing doors in the world, decorated by Ceasar van Everdingen.
