The Filmmuseum covers cinematography from the very first silent films up to the most modern productions. The museum has a huge collection of Dutch and foreign titles across the eras, and is regularly updated. The Filmmuseum holds annual festivals and open air screenings focusing on different aspects of cinema history each year. The museum also has the largest film library in the Netherlands, and has a store which distributes a variety of classical and independent films.
