The Dordrechts Museum was founded in 1842, and holds a collection spanning over four centuries. The museum is devoted to Dutch painting, and includes masterpieces by a variety of artists, from the Golden Age through to today. The emphasis is on the 17th and 19th centuries, with work by Aelbert Cuyp, Barend Cornelis, and Paul Gabriel. The upper floor of the museum includes a few pieces from the Amsterdam and Hague Schools. The museum also has an impressive garden.
