The Doorweth Castle is a medieval castle situated near the river Rhine in Arnhem. It is believed that the first castle to be placed on the site was a wooden one, in the early 13th century. When this castle was burned to the ground, a stone one was built in its place, and this castle has been enlarged and rebuilt several times over the years. The castle was damaged badly during World War II, but was carefully restored over a period of several years. It now serves as a museum.
