The Old Knegt corn mill was built in 1580 to replace a mill that had been destroyed by a fire in 1573. By 1925, the mill was in a very poor condition, and was partially demolished. In 1981, the Uitgeester and Akersloter Mill Foundation re-built the mill. The new mill was burnt down in 2001, and the foundation began another restoration project. The mill was re-opened on May 8th 2004. The flour produced by the mill is sold to local bakeries. The mill is open to the public every Saturday.
