The De Bente Mill was built in 1814 by G. J. Volkerts and M. Kars as a replacement for an older mill that had been destroyed during the French occupation of Coevorden. The mill has had several owners, including G. J. Oldenkamp, K. Arends, and Jan Hidding. Today, the mill is owned by the County of Coevorden. The mill is open to the public, and has a store which sells a variety of grain mixtures. There is also a small tea and coffee shop on the premises.
