The Memorial Centre at Camp Westerbork is devoted to the memories of all those who died between 1942 and 1945, during which time Camp Westerbork was used as a ’transit camp’ – a temporary abode for Jewish refugees deported from the Netherlands before they were sent elsewhere to be killed. The camp has been partially restored, and the museum gives an overview of the history of the camp, with photographs, paintings and maps. There is also a documentation centre with books and videotapes, and some Memorial Books recording the names of over 140,000 Dutchmen killed during World War II.
