Born Castle
Kasteelpark 36, Born - Netherlands

Map
The first written records of the Born Castle appeared in 1154. The castle was then owned by the Van Born family. It was sold to the Van Valkenburg family in 1321, and later the castle and its land were sold to Willem III, Duke of Gulik. In 1538 the castle was dismantled and its stones were used to strengthen the city walls of Sittard. The remains of the castle were destroyed by the troops of Rene van Chalon, Prince of Orange. The castle was rebuilt in 1666. Today, the castle is owned by the municipality of Born, and the bailey is now used as the town hall.
