The Bolwerks Mill was built in 1861 after the brothers Abraham and Frank Elfrink asked permission from the Stadholder to build a mill in the town. The mill was in active use until 1927, when the miller started working elsewhere, and the mill was relegated to use as a warehouse. In the 1950s, the cane and blades were replaced, and futher restoration work was carried out by an action group called the Bolwerks Mill Foundation in the 1970s. Today, the mill is in active use.
