Bleijenbeek Castle
Bleijenbeek, Afferden - Netherlands

Map
The Bleijenbeek castle was built in 1350 as a moated farm with a small keep. The castle was originally owned by the Van Mirlaer family. It was later sold to Mr. W Schenck. During the 15th and 16th century the castle was expanded, and further modifications were made during the 17th century. The castle was destroyed during a bombing attack in 1945, and was never rebuilt. The remaining ruins are a part of a bat reserve.
