Amstelkring Museum is also know as Our Lord in The Attic, and is one of the oldes museums in Amsterdam. The building, a 17th century home, is largely preserved and interesting as an insight into life in that time. The main attraction, however, is the hidden church in the attic, built after the Reformation, when Catholics were not permitted to practice their religion in public. Catholics moved their worship to clandestine, privately owned churches, such as the one concealed in this house. The Amstelkring Museum often plays host to temporary exhibitions and galleries related to the 17th century.
