Ammersoyen Castle
Kasteellaan 7, Ammerzoden - Netherlands

Map
The Ammersoyen Castle was built in 1350 by the Van Herlaer family. It is quite similar in appearance and layout to the Helmond and Muiden Castles. In 1496, the Van Arkel family married into ownership of the castle. They lived there until 1694, when the last Lord of family died. Since then, the castle has had several owners, and was briefly used as a church. Today, the castle is owned by the Friends of the Castles of Gelderland Foundation, and is open to the public. There is a small exhibition of archaeological finds that were uncovered during the most recent restoration of the castle.
